Biography

Renowned gospel vocalist and television host, Dr. Bobby Jones, born on September 18, 1938, in Henry County, Tennessee, is an academic achiever with degrees including a B.S. in elementary education, an M.Ed., and an Ed.D. He contributed to the development of Nashville’s Black Expo and introduced the pilot for “Bobby Jones Gospel,” which became the longest-running original series on cable television, premiering on Black Entertainment Television in 1980. Jones has produced and hosted various shows, including “Video Gospel” and BET’s “Let’s Talk Church.” His extensive career includes touring with New Life, overseeing The Nashville Super Choir, and hosting “The Dr. Bobby Jones International Gospel Industry Retreat” for 24 years. Jones, a Grammy and Dove Award winner, received the Gabriel Award for his gospel opera aired on PBS and a Grammy for Best Soul Gospel Performance. His discography and literary contributions reflect his impactful journey in gospel music and education.
