Montrel Darrett, known as “Mr. Black Soul,” is a creative genius and soul icon with nearly 30 years in the entertainment industry. A pioneer and trailblazer, he has collaborated with renowned artists such as Boys II Men, Dave Hollister, Commissioned, John P. Kee, and more. Despite facing personal tragedies, including the loss of his daughter and parents, Montrel has earned numerous accolades, including a Canadian Juno Grammy Award and ASCAP Writers Award.
After serving in the U.S. Navy and the Gulf War, Montrel redirected his passion for music, establishing Urban Icon Entertainment IIV. He is set to release his first independent film in 2024, showcasing his brighter soul and love for music. Montrel is a multi-instrumentalist with a rich musical background dating back to the 1940s.
